I’m through with presidential ambition, says IBB

Former military President Ibrahim Babangida said yesterday his time for seeking the presidential seat was up.

The general said he would work with other northern governors to emulate Sokoto State Governor Aliyu Wamakko’s agricultural skills acquisition programme for the revival of agriculture in the region.

He said: “If that is done, the region would have made tremendous breakthrough and boosted its economic strength.”

Babangida, who visited Second Republic President Shehu Shagari, spoke in Sokoto when he inaugurated a Modern Agricultural Skills Acquisition Centre at Milgoma, Bodinga Local Government Area.

The centre is among the various projects executed by the state government and inaugurated by the former military leader across the state.

Babangida was accompanied by AVM Hamza Abdullahi (rtd) and Hassan M. Jalo, among other personalities.

He said: “The stage is now for the likes of Wamakko.

I want to be convinced that Wamakko is working based on what we have seen.

  1. That is better i think IBB should advise his contemporaries to hang there boots and to scout for a decent non corrupt replacement from the region to take over from them, so that they can be playing the elderly role.

  2. Well done Wamakko. I advice other northern Governors to copy from Wamakko.

  3. This unproductive antic of inviting past and discredited former military leaders to commission inflated white elephant projects in Sokoto which has no bearing on the poor & down-trodden masses, just to spite President Jonathan, will surely backfire and the people of Sokoto will be worst for it, while the President, whom God Almighty, the giver of Power, has put on the throne of Nigeria, the humble Goodluck Ebele Jonathan from the tiny village of Otuoke in riverine Bayelsa State, reigns beyond 2015. May God bless his Presidency!

  6. Spoken like a real man. You can take dat statement to d bank, its guaranteed. Not like a clueless Jonathan dat said he won't run for president in 2015 n he's not denying dat statement.a man who is not worth his word is worst dan a prostitute.I was a member of d diaspora when he addressed d gathering, talking about diaspora particiapation in election come 2015 thou he won't be standing for election. Now, even d diaspora election is a miarge while he's heating up the polity just cos of an inordinate ambition.
