Angry Youths Beat Up House Of Rep Member

photoA member of the House of Representatives representing Malumfashi/Kafur constituency of Katsina state, Hon Ibrahim Babangida Mahuta, was attacked by a mob in his constituency.

This is the third time the lawmaker has been attacked by youths from his constituency. The first being during the last public hearings on constitution amendments.

Mahuta, who was elected on the platform of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) was attacked at Masari village where he had gone to attend the wedding of the daughter of former House of Representatives speaker, Aminu Bello Masari.

The lawmaker had barely arrived at the venue of the event when some angry youths started raining invectives on him and before he could defend himself, he was beaten with his clothes torn.

Sources said that he had not visited his constituency for a very long time, claiming that he made overtures to the constituents, an action that did not pacify the youths.

According to an eyewitness, “some youths who had attended the wedding on sighting him began to rain insults on him. They also accused him of neglecting them and giving them pittance when he was supposed to have done more.

"Some youths first held him by his clothes, shouting “Karya ne”, meaning “it’s a lie” before they tore his dress, while others hit him with whatever they had on their hands. It took the intervention of the police who rushed to the scene and fired gunshots into the air to dispel the youths.

"Mahuta was later taken to the police station in Malumfashi for protection there for several hours,” the source said.

  3. This kind of occurrence should be nationwide. And let the police stand by and watch and stop interfering with quality action home video. Or did they not enjoy the killing of the two young men they handcuffed and gave to a mob to kill in Badagry? Useless police men and Reps. Criminals get the protection of the police while the innocent suffer both in the hands of the criminal and the police. Is this the Nigeria we want to be associated with? God forbid
