The officer, whose name was not given for security reasons, was testifying in the case filed by the State Security Service against the six accused Suleja/Madalla bomb attack.
He said in his evidence-in-chief that the information was contained in a cell-phone confiscated from the suspects at the point of their arrest in Gumel Junction, Kachia in Kaduna State.
The witness explained that a total of four mobile phones were ceased from the suspects. According to him, one of the mobile phones carried the promise of incentives and the secret code to arrange and detonate an explosive.
The suspects are: Salisu Ahmed, Umar Babagana-Umar, Mohammed Ali and Musa Adam. They were arrested on July 28, 2011 in Kachia, on their way to Kaduna where the Vice President, Namadi Sambo, and other dignitaries were to attend a sporting function on July 29 at the township stadium.
It will be recalled that Umar Ibrahim and Shuaibu Abubakar, were also standing trial for alleged multiple bombings and killings in Suleja and Madalla both in Niger.
NAN reports that the witness reads the first message as thus:
“Do a deed which Allah by his grace and mercy saves you from the punishment of the grave and a dangerous bridge with a speed of light.
“Save you from the greatest fear. Allow you save from hell fire. 70 members of your family shall marry you 72 virgins in paradise, gives you a crown of respect, which even the prophet will be impressed with.
“Keep your soul in the green birds of paradise and your wish to return to the World and die as he died because of the good blessings and reward you encounter after such noble last deed. I pray for you to do such a noble deed,’’ the message stated.
Mr Emeka Okoro, the counsel to the accused persons, however, applied for a short adjournment to enable him to access the officer’s statement which was not before the court.
Justice Bilkisu Aliyu then adjourned cross examination of the witness to Dec 6. Aliyu ordered the State Security Service to avail the counsel to the accused persons with the army officer’s statement.

ReplyDeleteThe use of abusive language by both sides is deplorable. Insulting pastors who are rich - calling them corrupt - is disrespectful. One of the job definitions of pastors is NOT BEING POOR. Trying to justify the insurgency by saying that government is not addressing the issues is mischievous because these problems did not start with the present government rather they are being diverted by militants from their main duties of governance. The former leaders, majority of whom were muslims, failed to address these issues. The northerners that spent years at the Al-manjari schools, being trained in Arabic, the Quran and (unfortunately so) begging for food, have themselves to blame for lagging behind in education. The young ones of the South were not subjected to such distractions at the early formative years. Then, again, the promise of 70 (or 72) virgins for islamic 'martyrs' is not a new one. How non-physical entities can have sex is never explained. That is people preying on people's ignorance. I know many educated Northerners who will never be taken in by these stories. So, rather than hauling insults at one another, let these muslims take back their region, and re-educated those that are led astray by countering these deceits. I ask that true muslims bear with some of us Christians for our anger. Many of us have lost relatives and properties, and been rendered refugees in our own country. Pray that we don't also seek the path of revenge which may be the only open if things don't simmer down soon enough. But personally something still bothers me about the religion. Honestly, I don't mean to be rude to any Muslim reading this but here are my views:
Over the years and through some research, and ensuring most historical readings I do are at least none biased, I can only come to a conclusion that most people have come to in the past and even on this forum. There are several scriptures from the Holy Book that I have tried researching even to get various views but personally, it all comes down to the same conclusion. Let's even say everyone is biased about Islam, but picking up the Quaran and reading straight from it with some of its Famous Surahs 9:5 which most people talk about, would it have meant something different?
Ok, someone might say but the Bible at some point also mention some violent things like Moses laws etc. But a careful reader can easily see the difference. Virtually all those laws were close ended and directed towards some set of people at a certain point in time. On the other hand, again forgive me if you feel slighted as a muslim, most of the verses that the Islamist Extremist uses to justify their actions are open ended. And could have a "NOW" interpretation to anyone reading it. Infact there are some documents also available on the Internet that discusses the History of Islam etc. And reading through it could only bring one to the same conclusion as earlier mentioned.
Anyway, like I mentioned, this is not to be rude or blasmphem a religion. It is just an insight of a writer which are based on his findings. And there is one thing I normally tell my muslim friends (again, they are loving guys and trusted ones also): whatever blamsphemy that the Muslims are facing now, the best way to approach it is that those of you that at least know the Religion is a Religion of Peace should please advocate it. Stand up in your Mosque, and let your Imams also stand up for it. Teach your youth how to LOVE, create more forums that can reach out to millions of more muslim to advocate a change in their orientation. In your actions, let the whole world see by the day that Islam is truly for Peace and not Violence.

Whenever you bunch up the muslims, and call them cursed, you prove you do not understand the reason for Christ's death on the cross. I will never relent in telling the muslims to come to Christ. It is our bounden duty. The criminals who call themselves Boko Haram are poor examples of muslims. They should hunted down and subdued. The rest of the muslims are a mission field to Christ - to do our best to convert. The Christian LOVE does not flow out to only our friends but also to "them that despitely use you" as the HOLY BOOK says.
