“We did not build Covenant University from tithes and offerings” – Bishop Oyedepo

Bishop Oyedepo last night again, floored those accusing him of ripping off church members through tithes and offering to live in affluence while cruising in private jets. He said,”the last time Church paid my salary was December 1987, nobody heard it, not even the Ministers in the church until 1997 and church members didn’t hear this until 2007″.

Again he said: “In January of 1988, my wife asked me of money for feeding and I told her I had give my salary to God, and that was the last time she ever had to ask for feeding til date” He again queried whether anybody has ever been approached by him for any form of financial assistance?

He also shocked the people accusing him and church of using poor people’s money to build universities that themselves can’t afford to send their kid when he said; “Covenant university was built within 7 months without any collection of any one naira tithes and offerings or donation of any kind from anywhere”

  4. Thank you joor. Maybe God poured money down from heaven for him.
Okay let's agree its not money from the church, what then is he using the hundreds of million people give in tithes/offerings/seeds for. I don't understand how these pastors feel comfortable using private jets. They are just so Conscienceless and heavy hypocrites. I always say the Pope is considered the highest religious in the world (that's subject to debate though) thus the saying "U cannot be holier than the Pope". He can afford to get 200 or more private jets in a week if he so desires but NO he moves around with public plane chartered for security reasons.
All these pastors come from and live in places in Nigeria can they help the poor more,(I know they'll say they help) they can do more for christs sake.
Do you guys know how much to park a jet for a day wen its not in use, how much more when it is.
    May God forgive the wicked.

  13. Somebody said Oyedepo is a writer , i agree .

    Can we check this together ;

(1)How many copies did he sell between 1987 to 2007.

    (2) What is the rate per copy .

    (3) How much is he spending on his family per month or in a year .

    (4)Total income (for 20 years ) =(20(1)*(2) )

    (5) Multiply (3) by 20 and subtract it from (4) : (4) -20(3)

    (6) What is the cost of construct Covenant University ?

Finally , check difference between (5) and (6).

    WE ARE NOT MORON

  16. It's unfortunate we Africans are yet to wake up. Religion is a social vice that has been designed so craftily by the west to use to suppress, oppress, usurp, and render anyone that makes himself vulnerable to it useless. Does it suprise you that some Africans being as intelligent as we are have discovered this and are now taking serious advantage of it. Has anyone ever stopped to ask why Religion is recently flourishing more in Africa than the west where it came from? Whoever is expecting Oyedepo and others to come out and tell them where their billions are coming from should stop and reason better than that, bcos even if they choose to speak in defense, they may never let you into their innermost secrets.....Chris A.

  20. He is a writer indeed! But how many books has he published? Does he write better than Wole Soyinka, Achebe and others? How many of his books have gone outside his church? Nobody knows him as a writer. Even if he a the most talent writer in the world, it is not possible to raise the money for building a university of that capacity from writing. Atiku a politician has not even gone quarter in completing his university after many years and yet a writer completed his within 7 months.

  22. To all of you making wrong comment on the servant of most high, you better don't let this people publishig wrong information about him bring you into a curse from God. He never said something of such. All he said was that " We did not collect offering in building Landmark University and it was built absolutely debt free." That was his statement. Covenant university does not sound like Landmark university. Let the originator of this fake news correct himself or he remain cursed forever.

  23. Hello my people ... when did the church start to take accountability or responsibility for Nigerians?

Who told you that you run the church as a money distribution center?

Are you really sure people going to Winners are complaining about not being blessed by God through the Bishop ministration to them?

Don't you know that the church has be run with all the accounting books being kept properly or have you heard that the church money have been embezzled?

Why are you becoming deluded or despised about Bishop Oyedepo (these genuine men of God we are blessed with in our time) being blessed by God including wealth and running the gospel with private jets around the world?

Why not worry more about Nigerian leaders/politicians who are stealing our money, our hard earned money (taxes) that our children yet unborn, may never benefit from?

People come to the public media to vent their anger on genuine men of God who are helping so many people get out of poverty and perverseness, to deliver them from spiritual, Psychological and moral enslavement by the work they do.

Please I am appalled by the number of contributors here whom I assume are not church goers and does not understand how the church is being run by the hand of God.

I will advice that you lot should leave the Bishop alone and let God, I say let God Himself perform justice.

Although, I am very convince that Bishop David Oyedepo is a true man of God and he has been truly blessed for doing the God's work ( for over thirty years)the right way and it is showing in his life and true members of the Church and those of us who are 'stupid' enough to believe in his teachings and books.

Also, if the Bishop (or anybody) had decided to go the way of business or any other career - and had applied all these principles being taught in a genuine church and by genuine men of God - they being blessed with the Spirits of Just men make perfect(Heb. 12:23), he (or anybody) will always replicate these blessings... try it over time (this are the foundation any developed countries are living on now...though their descendant may no more know it or believe it but because the blessing is covenanted for life, they are reaping they gains now of what their past generations has sowed as genuine Christians or even Muslims)

I can only say let the Nigerian leaders turn away from ripping the people of their hard earned taxes and serve us with all their hearts and integrity. Then soon Nigeria will start to be blessed ( or start to appropriate the blessings) and Nigerians in turn will become prosperous.

    God bless Nigeria!!!

build a university employ non academic staffs , and academic staff and runn it successfully, not to talk of running two universities ,how many looters in this country can boast of a secondary school in their village.do you know that the bishop started the church from kwara state, where were you when he was using a volkswagen beetle, living in a one room apartment,he has followed the assignment that God has given him and has achieved this little, have you discovered you own assignment?
pay a visit to the church and see the simplicity in him.

you dont even know that there was a time in iyana ipaja that people climbing on peoples buildings just to listen to him because the roads where already filled, the pictures are ther for you to see,

All you need to do and take it as a challenge pay the church a visit and after 3 months if your life doesn't change leave. The Bishop says and you will know Whether God called him or not.

  34. To all who have streslesty made nasty comments to d man of God, where were u when he was: fasting and praying day and night for d prosperity of his membrs n d nation, riding okada to go n minister, left USA 4 ministry in Nigeria, burning d midnight candle to write life transforming books, sowing dangerous seeds 4 d ministry, paying tithe to anoda church n winners to key into greatness and so on.
Wotever u sow, u shall reap. I am nt a membr of d church but I hav bn blessd by his ministry. When membrs r blessd, they can giv anythin to appreciate God n more wil com.
Do u think d membrs r illitrates? R they complaining? They see results in their lives. Many joind jobless but after hearin som inspiring messages, faith came n they got multi million naira jobs n projects, som came childless for yrs n got answrs, som came cursd n got deliverd, som came wt terminal diseases as diagnosd by docs n got their healin, wot r u guys saying I went there jobless but now I'm wt NNPC. We r never tired of giving cos d more we give, d mor we reciev.
I encorag u,if u hv any chaleng, attend any of these churches u condem, allow God's Word to b mixd wt faith in ur heart n wen u c d result, I bet u, u wil carry a sign board readin Jesus is Lord, on ur head, walkin round n sharin d good news.
Wot Bishop means is dat he didn't nid to call for special projec offrin in church to build d schools. Pple, who God has blesd thru him willingly contributed as they were led. Is dat not God in action. How many churches can buy a land wtout raising special project offrin? Evn in my church, special oferings r. Colected for certain projects.so its. A testimony worth sharin. Dat is his point.
D presidency has 10 private jets whch r maintand for abt N10billion annualy, face those ones n leave dis men dat r impactin lives n changin destinies for good.
God bless our men of God. God bless Nigeria. Nigeria is great.

  35. I have a piece of advice to these people with small minds on divine prosperity.
You claim that with GOD all things are possible and yet you are here disproving the possibility of that same GOD building a common University in a whole SEVEN Months?
What was King Solomon's business or trade that he was drinking with golden cups and vessels, if that could happen during the grace-less period how much more now under Grace,.
Before you talk unwisely, follow this simple tip: Buy Oyedepo's books/Mssgs, listen/read the pages with a teachable mind (not critical heart)', apply the proven principles and pay the prices he has paid in following his GOD, i bet you, you will discover that it works for all, not for one man alone!
I am not a member of his Church, but I follow his teachings bcos they are practical and results producing, even to a non Christian!
    Try and see.

  42. Some fools keep mentioning Solomon's wealth, asking how he got it. If you read your bible very well, you'll know that Solomon was a king who has so many entitlement. This was by virtue of his Kingly position. He also had SHIPS that imported gold for him from Shittim. Apart from his entitlements, he also had means of income, this is not like today's MAN OF GOD that thrive on their members ignorance. Let us accept he (Oyedepo) didn't build the university with tithes and offerings from members. What does he do with the millions he realizes from his members every week?
