We shouldn't wait for ‘goodluck’ when we have hardwork – Atiku

Former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has said the only way to overcome the security and political challenges facing the country is through prayer “hard work but not goodluck”.
Atiku said though the country is passing through a trying period, stressing that Nigerians must learn to stay on course.

He spoke at the 13th speech and Prize Giving day of EL-Amin International School Minna owned by the late former first lady, Maryam Babangida.
The former Presidential aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), while speaking on the current insecurity and political situations in the country said they are challenges that would require more than “good luck” to surmount.
According to him, “though luck has a role to play in human affairs, you do not sit and wait for luck to smile on you, you have to work hard’’.
Addressing the graduating students in a paper he titled, ‘’Imperatives of staying on course’’, the former Presidential aspirant recalled that as a student he never relied on “good luck” to overcome academic challenges but attributed his successes to hard work and prayers.
Observers would be whether the former Vice president who kept harping on the word “good luck” was indirectly harping on it because of the rhyme with the president’s first name.  Atiku then told the students that their graduation marks the beginning of a more challenging phase in the journey of life.
He emphasised ‘’Whether you are going on life’s journey by rail, by road, sea or by air you are likely to experience difficult challenges but you need to stay focus and stay on course’’.
The former vice president whose speech drew ovation from the audience, which included former military President, General Ibrahim Babangida and members of the National Assembly, went on memory lane, saying, ‘’I used to have a teacher in secondary school, when we are going into the examination hall and people say “good luck” he will say no! no!! No good luck but you must work hard to overcome challenges.’’
He reminded the graduating students that obstacles are inevitable in human life, maintaining that there is no journey of life without obstacles, but advised that they should not allow situations to throw them off the course.

  2. How I feel terrible when I read comments from the likes of Atiku and co. I have no evidence but I know they all know what the solutions to challenges in the country are. They all thrive in disharmony but all these would end someday and mayb the truth be told then. Naija dont need them again cos they will sell the country without batting an eyelid.

  3. Look at the type of characters that are jockeying for the office of the president. What have they done beyond enriching themselves? We are doomed in Nigeria as no person with decency can get to office without stealing to buy themselved into office or have an evil godfather who would want a 1000 fold returns on their investment. Either way we are doomed.

  5. Well said, Atiku. Nigeria, nay any individual indeed need more than good luck and prayer to surmount the challenges of like. Only an idiot seats like a mumu and wait for his/luck to shine. A man has got to get off his backside and do what is needed to get what is desired. Nigeria and Nigerians deserve more and better than our present offerings.

  6. With Atiku Speech , I think GEJ is not dancing to the tone of some TOP PEOPLE in this country.

All in All , i will conclude that this country can never see the light of the day without the extinction of corrupt leader.

It is better to separate peacefully now than continuation of our stupid amalgamation by Lord L.

  8. When the name, Goodluck first hit our consciousness via politics, I was ecstatic and vowed to name my next child Goldluck. I now know better and would never, ever do so, given my knowledge of, and what I have seen the name to stand for. I don't want a mumu for a child. Good luck to Goodluck albeit at the expense of ...

  9. Wether u like it or not Atiku remains a leader... And he never relied on goodluck at any point in his life.
Has your life always defended on goodluck? Wake up and live up to the realities of life. Is Goodluck Jonathan or Gooping Jonathan?

  10. If stupid Atiku likes it or not, Goodluck got there by the luck our good God gave to him, Atiku with his 'hard work'or 'hard luck'will never never get there even if he tries a million times. As for the insecurity that Atiku, IBB, Adamu Ciroma, and Buhari has created, let them wait and see how God will help Jonathan to tackle it. He does not know it all and he is a minority, hence, he is not getting support from those who think that they must always have the power. Even if you call him names, he is the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. You can die if that hurts you
