Suspect arrested in Abuja with Grenades and Ammunition at Ministerial briefing Venue.

John Akpabu, a suspected suicide bomber was arrested yesterday with three hand grenades and some rounds of ammunition, at the Radio House, venue of the Ministerial briefing by the Ministry of Sports on their performance in the last one year.

The annual briefing which involves a daily briefing by all the federal ministries on their performance, commenced a fortnight ago.

It is coordinated by the Federal Ministry of Information, as part of the preparations for Democracy Day.

The Ministers of Justice (Bello Adoke); Aviation (Stella Oduah); Youth Development and Sports (Bolaji Abdullahi) are the ministers listed to present their scorecards today.

Security operatives screening visitors to the building, which also houses the Federal Ministry of Information, the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Voice of Nigeria and Kapital FM, became suspicious of the bag the man was holding.

On further scrutiny, they found a grenade and some rounds of ammunition. The man said he was given the bag by a woman to deliver to someone in Abuja, and on getting to Abuja he discovered that the bag contained the explosive materials and that is why he brought it to Radio House to pass a message to the 'woman' so that she could 'come and claim it'

  5. Whether tear gas can or grenades oooooooh this man was there for a mission. Everyday is for the thief and one day is for the owner, how can a full grown man like this lie that he has become an errand boy of a woman's bag to a place that he knows very well that there was an occassion. Oh God may nemesis continue to catch on all of them one by one. But will they allow him confess that is the question mark now?

  7. When will our police MEN become professional? Why rush to the press to announce a grenade when actually what is displayed on this site is nothing but tear-gas cans. Is it that the police can not differenciate between TEAR-GAS AND GRENADE?

  11. One person mentioned "Tear-gas cans" and every person followed suit...Na wa o!..Nigerians!...Anyway,to the first person that mentioned "tear-gas cans",are u in the force? How come you can tell the difference? The tear-gas I know is always in a metallic silveware-like container..All the locally made grenades and bombs I've bn reading and seeing over the news is exactly like this..And if u read news here and u don't believe the reporter,u are not been forced to continue..Look for other source of information..There are other online newspapers, not just nigerianeye..I'm not a reporter but I hate the fact that reporters(especially on nigerianeye)take out their time to gather information and news and in the end, readers don't appreciate their efforts..
