Edo state governor, Adams Oshiomhole escapes death as three die in ghastly motor accident

Three journalists covering the Edo Government House lost their lives on Saturday afternoon when a lorry crashed into Gov. Adams Oshiomhole’s convoy.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the governor and his entourage were heading to Auchi from Afuze in Owan East Local Government Area of Edo to officially flag-off his return bid campaign.

The incident occurred few metres to Auchi town between Ikharo and Auchi axis of the Auchi/Sabongidda-Ora road.

The driver of the lorry was said to have lost control after a break failure while descending the Auchi hill along the route.

The lorry narrowly avoided hitting the vehicle conveying the governor and rammed into the press crew bus and one of the escort vehicles attached to the governor.
Two of the three dead journalists were from the same media house (ITV) while the third was a cameraman from AIT.

They were among the six other occupants in the press crew bus when the accident occurred.

The other surviving journalists were said to have sustained various degree of injuries as well as the chief detail to the governor and some other aides.
As at the time of filing this report, the injured had been rushed to the Notredam hospital in Auchi.

Mr Olu Afolabi, Auchi Unit Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), who confirmed the incident, also confirmed the death of the AIT cameraman.

  2. Why should the victims be only common people (journalist)?

Oshomole is not a trustworthy person. He fought Baba Iyabo with his last drop of sweat against reduction of Fuel subsidy not even removal. I was shocked seeing him struggling with GEJ and co for TOTAL and COMPLETE removal of Fuel subsidy.

He is not a corrupt governor, hardworking but uncoordinated.

Edo people open your eyes and vote for a leader with firm belief.

  3. Thank God, we did not lost every body in that bus. This is not the first time such is happening with leaders, in authority. When one of our past president visited us in Benin, there was series of accidents and death, so what did u comment about that? For those that don't have the sense of reasoning will be against this wonderful Governor. A man that have come to show us that the tax that people pay can be used to develop a state not to be shared by members of his cabinet. A man that says black and when you look closely you see black indeed, not the opposite. It is his tenure that my children saw tariffic light physically. My prayer is that God will put him there for the second tenure, infact he is a teacher who has taught both the rich, poor, big, small, tall, short, good, bad, wise and the foolish how ro rule and make a difference. God Bless u Adams.
