Goals feast will continue – Obuh

After seeing his lads  hit an all-time high of ten goals in two matches at the ongoing FIFA-20 World Cup in Colombia, Flying Eagles coach, John Obuh has said that the rain of goals by his team was going to continue in their bid to win the tournament for the first time.

Nigeria booked their place in the round of 16 yesterday morning with a breath-taking 5-2 routing of Croatia in Armenia and play Saudi Arabia in the early hours of Sunday morning for the right to win the group and avoid a potential clash with any of the top teams at the tournament.

In their first group match against Guatemala, the Nigerians won 5-0, and after another repeat performance against the Croats, the African champions are increasingly becoming one of the tournament’s contenders, a tag not lost on Coach Obuh, when he spoke with fifa.com. He rather preferred to dwell on the impending task ahead and how he felt about his team’s chances up front.

He also talked about the secret behind the team’s domineering performance so far at the Championship
“It is too early to talk of winning the title but that is our aim like other serious teams here. But I want to reflect on the display of Croatia today, which was not like they did against Saudi Arabia. We expected them to be a good team and they showed a good display.

“It was a tough game for us. We should carry on scoring goals as long as opportunity is there to score. In our next match, we should score as we did in the first two matches. We came a long way to build the team and the players have been together for a long time. The game today was tough but luckily for us we managed to win”, added Coach Obuh.
