Delta tribunal: Obasanjo can’t bribe anyone – Fani-Kayode

Erstwhile Minister of Aviation and former spokesman to President Olusegun Obasanjo, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, has exonerated the former President of allegation of procuring favourable judgment for Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State at the governorship rerun election petition tribunal in Asaba.
Fani-Kayode, in a statement, yesterday, said Obasanjo would never give or receive bribe no matter the circumstances.

He was reacting to reports on an internet news site about a transaction between the Delta State Government and Obasanjo Farms to twist the judgment of the gubernatorial petition tribunal in Asaba.

The Delta State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Chike Ogeah, also denied the report, saying that the N770 million transaction was the state’s counterpart funding for a public private partnership, PPP, with Obasanjo Farms for an agricultural initiative in Ogwashi-Uku, Delta State.

Fani-Kayode said: “My attention has been drawn to a story in which former President Olusegun Obasanjo was accused of receiving N770 million purportedly for the purposes of bribing judges in the Delta State election tribunal. My reaction is that if you believe that story, you will believe anything.

“I assure you that Obasanjo would be the last person to give or receive a bribe from anyone.”
