Breaking news: National Assembly elections postponed to Monday 4th April 2011

Due to the chaos around the country due to several logistical challenges, the INEC chairman Prof. Attahiru Jega has announced the postponement of the National assembly elections to Monday 4th April 2011.

Speaking to the press men at a hastily organized press conference in Abuja, Prof. Jega apologized to Nigerians for the challenges and the time wasting that occured due to lapses on INEC's part.

The severe disruptions were witnessed in about 7 states of the federation while other states also had varying degrees of disruptions. Professor Jega said that it was in the interest of conducting free and fair elections that the commission had taken the bold step to postpone the elections and do their home work to ensure that everything is in place. He mentioned that the major challenges experienced were inadequate quantities of not only ballot papers but result sheets.

  1. Well, as Jega has said " what is what doing is what doing well " and is better to be late and get it right than be quick and get it wrong. So let us cross our leg till in Monday. KENNY.

  3. It is quite unfortunate that the Election was canceled just because of inadequate Election materials( result sheets & Ballot papers). What was INEC be doing all this while that they can't produce enough materials on time? we pray for God's intervention in this country.
